As the end of the year creeping, the Web Giants Like Google, Bing, Yahoo, AOL started releasing the interesting data.
According to Various estimations by various Web Giants, these were Top searches in web search engines for the year 2009. The King of Pop Michael Jackson who passed away recently stood first in the overall searches for 2009 in Bing, Yahoo and Google.
Swine flu, Twitter, Facebook and Windows 7 were among the most searched-for terms of the year, according to the latest statistics from search engines Google and Bing.
Twilight, WWE, Megan Fox, Britney Spearswere among the most searched-for terms of the year, according to the latest statistics from Yahoo.

Google Spokesman said “People searched about new sensations like Lady Gaga and Susan Boyle, but they also turned to the web to learn about the deaths of Stephen Gately, Jade Goody, and Michael Jackson.”

The list of trending topics for Microsoft Bing are US-centric, because Microsoft did not launch a localised UK version of the search service until earlier this month.

While Yahoo top searches definitely depict some hot memes and internet sensations for 2009 — think Michael Jackson, Megan Fox, Twilight, and Cash for Clunkers — Twitter is surprisingly absent from all of the top 10 lists.

Facebook topped the list of overall hottest search terms this year, followed by the BBC, YouTube, Hotmail, games, eBay, news, Google, Yahoo! and Bebo. Rival search engine Bing and music-streaming service Spotify were also among the year’s fastest-rising search queries.
